About this tool
Image to ICO Converter is a free online tool that turns PNG, JPG, WebP and other images into website favicon.ico files. The thing that sets it apart: everything runs locally in your browser — your images are never uploaded to any server.
How it started
I build a lot of side projects, and I kept needing to turn a logo into a favicon.ico. The online converters I tried all had a catch: logins, watermarks, or a several-second wait that made it obvious the image was being uploaded somewhere. I figured a browser could do this on its own — so one weekend I wrote it with the HTML5 Canvas API, dropped it into my own toolbox, and eventually spun it out when friends kept asking for it.
There's no backend, no database, no user accounts, and no analytics on this site. You drop an image in, it converts, you download. That's the whole thing.
The rules I stick to
- No uploads: conversion happens locally; we never see or store your files.
- No storage: no servers, no databases — close the tab and it's gone.
- No tracking: no analytics scripts, no cookies.
- Free forever: no sign-up, no watermark, no limits.
- Verifiable: all the logic lives in the page's JavaScript — if you're technical, read the source.
