ICO is the icon file format used by Windows and the standard for website favicons (the little icon in your browser tab). A single ICO file can hold multiple sizes — 16×16, 32×32, 48×48 and more — and the browser or system automatically picks the best one for each use case.

How to Use? Three Steps

Why I Built This Tool

I work on a lot of side projects, and I kept needing to turn a PNG into a favicon.ico. The online converters I tried either wanted me to log in, slapped a watermark on the output, or clearly uploaded the image to a server (because it took several seconds). I thought — this is something the browser can do on its own. So I spent a weekend putting it together with the Canvas API, dropped it into my own toolbox, and eventually spun it out when friends kept asking for it.

That's why this page has no backend, no database, no user accounts, and no analytics scripts. You drop an image, the conversion runs right on your machine, and that's it. The way it should be.
